shot information

For over 60 years, Kraemer Mining & Materials has been conducting engineered shots in the Burnsville Quarry, which is directly overseen by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, a division of the U.S. Department of Labor. Kraemer complies with the standards and thresholds set by The U.S. Bureau of Mines for safe practices related to employees, surrounding businesses structures, and residential dwellings.

Neighbors may occasionally feel vibration from a shot but rest assured, no damage will come to homes or property. In 2017, an independent consultant was hired by the City of Burnsville to study Kraemer’s shot practices. For several months, shots were recorded by permanent seismographs at various locations in the quarry and temporary seismographs outside the quarry property. The report concluded that the vibrations from the shots are well within the guidelines and are safe for area residents and the community. Kraemer continually monitors each shot with seismographs surrounding the quarry.
